Tahdhib Al-Akhlaq: A Hadith Guide for Personal and Social Conduct, is a gentle introduction that takes Ahadith from the six authentic collections predominantly from Bukhari and Muslim and arranges them into easily understood and accessible subject matter such as sincerity in worship, maintaining ties of kinship, teaching children, thankfulness and modesty etc. It focuses on Morality and Manners and thus serves both as an excellent foundation not only for further study of the great works of hadith, but also as a guide to the Islamic way of life.
Sayyed 'Abdu'l-Hayy al-Hasani (1286-1341 AH/1869-1923CE) was one of the most prominent Islamic scholars of his time, who contributed substantially to the academic history of Muslim India. In 1915, he was appointed Rector of Darul `Uloom Nadwatul-`Ulama Lucknow where he continued to serve it until he breathed his last in 1923. He was renowned for his immense love for ,hadith, and was distinguished in this science among his contemporaries. He authored many books in Arabic and Urdu. His magnum opus being Nuzhatul-Khawatir, an eight volume biographical work compiled in Arabic of some 4500 prominent figures among Indian Muslims, providing detailed information about them and the contributions they have made in different fields of knowledge. Other prestigious Arabic works of his include Al-Thagafah al-islamiah fi'l-Hind, on the Islamic education system that prevailed in India for centuries, and Al-Hind fi'l-`Ahd al-Islami, on the Islamic contribution to India in the fields of geography, history, culture, politics and India's overall development.
